Warner Brothers is holding a mass French Bulldog walk at David Lam Park in Yaletown to promote the new film DUE DATE opening Friday, November 5.

DUE DATE French Bulldog Walk will be hosted on Saturday, October 30 between 12:00-1:00pm.

Dogs will be wearing protective cones as they appear in the film. To thank participants, all walkers will receive DUE DATE t-shirts and movie passes.

About 3 years ago, a very nice lady made this Christmas tree decor for Angel and Tubby. It was one of the sweetest gifts I have ever received. I love hand made gifts. They mean so much to me. We just recently moved to Langley and we love it so much. Angel and Tubby get more green space to run around and there are so many dogs everywhere we go especially Walnut Grove area and Fort Langley. We discovered this great Cafe which is pet friendly and their breakfast is delicious. The service was amazing too. YAY! Ellwood Park Aniaml Hospital is officially open at their new location. The new facility is twice the size of their previous hospital. It is in the Parallel Marketplace mall currently under construction, near the Whatcom Road exit in Abbotsford. Dr Ray and his staff had spent so much time and effort in order to open this bigger facility. And it is so hard to find a vet cares about our pets as much as we do. He wanted bigger facility so he could offer better services for everyone. Now they can finally fit all the machines in there. Their phone number still stays the same which is 1-604-855-8900.

The reason why we decided to take care of them is because they are injured. They are both having a hard time to walk properly. Ever since I brought Angel home the first day, I have always been looking for the best English bulldog breeders in Canada. Angel is my first dog so I didn't know anything about puppy mills. I found Angel on Province newspaper. The seller wasn't a English bulldog breeder. She had so many different breeds in her home. This is why I think all the puppies were from puppy mills. My friend told me that their food has always been consistent in quality and taste. The beef pho soup is tasty and hot so that we are able to cook our raw beef in it. The noodles are light and compliment the heavy taste of the broth. The service was amazing too. The server told me that I can bring Angel and Tubby there anytime I like so they can enjoy the tasty beef as well. I love Vietnamese food so much. It's only 5 min drive from downtown. How to make a speedy recovery from surgery for Angel

Ever since the surgery, Angel has been more active than ever. Because there are lots of people feel bad for her, she has been staying awake most of time and expecting for unlimited amount of treats. One of the most lovely English bulldogs in Coal Harbour is looking for a new family. Her name is Lola. She has been our royal customer ever since we opened on Dec 17, 2007. Her owner Debbie is a wonderful lady who has been adopting lots of dogs from Mexico and Vancouver. She has been looking after her dogs very well and they are all very spoiled. The reason why Debbie is looking for a new home for Lola is because Debbie lives in an apartment and she has 5 dogs in total. Lola is the biggest out of all the dogs she adopted. Debbie would prefer to keep Lola unless she finds a very good home for her. Tubby loves this new collection of the Henrietta family. Henrietta is raised on a quaint little chicken farm in America's Heartland. Henrietta showed a flair for performing at an early age. As an adult, she moved to Las Vegas with dreams of fame and fortune. She quickly took the town by storm and was cast as a genuine Vegas showgirl. During her twenty year career she danced in numerous shows and even headlined the now infamous burlesque show. Now retired, Henrietta lives a quiet life, far from the Vegas footlights, in a swanky trailer park near Fort Lauderdale. Wild Chicken.

2010 Winter Olympics

Did you have lots of fun during the winter Olympics? Tubby did. I have never seen so many people in downtown Vancouver. The best part was Canada won the most GOLD!!!!! YAY!!!!! Most people were all wearing red including Tubby. Tubby was wearing a Canadian flag which wrapped around his body.We also made Canadian flags with a paw for our window display. Ashley and Colin brought Tubby to see the torch and Tubby got so much attentions and so many people wanted to take pictures of him. However, Angel could careless about all the excitements. She would rather sit at home and read the newspaper instead.

Angel had a tumor

I noticed Angel had a small lump (about the size of dime) a few months ago. It was on the side of her stomach. It felt like a soft marble sized lump under his skin. It got bigger and smaller and sometimes it disappeared. Angel didn't mind or notice the lump and she was acting more active than ever before. So, I thought it shouldn't be a big deal and I didn't bring Angel to see Dr. Ray right away.

My mother in law noticed the lump on Monday and insisted to bring Angel to see Dr. Ray. Dr. Ray found out it was a tumor. I felt so bad I didn't bring Angel in right away. Angel had an operation the next day and Dr. Ray removed the tumor completely. However, I had to wait for a couple of days to find out the result from a lab to see if it was cancerous. It was the worst days in my life. Luckily, the surgery was a success and the test results came back with great news!

Angel is getting extra care (especially treats) from everyone till she is fully recovered. Thank you so much for everyone's concerns.

We had four days off during the Thanksgiving long weekend and we decided to go to a place where it's suitable for both of us and the dogs. We drove for 9 hours to go to Lake Louise first for our first destination. We stayed at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. When we got there it was around 9pm and -13 degrees. Angel and Tubby really didn't like the weather when we brought them outside of our car. They were shivering. The second and third day we visited all the most popular trails, lakes and falls. Angel and Tubby both had lots of fun there cuz all the places we went to were pet friendly. We even brought them on the banff gondola. Angel was shacking the whole time in the gondola. She wasn't impressed with the ride to the top of the mountain. We are definitely going back again next summer. This is one of my favorite pet friendly vacation.

Tubby went over to my friend, Lily's place to prepare some dinner for us so I dropped him off and went back to work. Angel didn't even notice Tubby didn't come back to work with me. However, when we said let's go see Tubby, Angel was running very fast towards where Lily lives. She totally knew how to get there from work. It was so nice to see Angel is still able to run. Usually cars are her favorite transportation =)

Canada Day Parties

Dan's parents Tony and Roxanne throw this big Canada Day Party once every year. They invite all their friends and family to the party and of course Angel and Tubby are invited too. The party started at noon and that's when Angel and Tubby started swimming and hanging around the pool. I still had to work so I couldn't get there till late afternoon. They were still swimming when I got there. They seemed like they had lots of fun so I didn't want to stop them. I gave them another couple hours and it was after 5pm. I had to get them in the house cuz I could tell they really needed a break. After I gave them a bath, Angel sounded asleep right away. Tubby was still looking around and tried to get back to the pool area. We left this party around 6pm and heading to the second party.

Our second party was at one of our best friends, Lily's new place " One Harbour Green". We were late so they already started the BBQ. The view was amazing while we were BBQ. The fireworks started at 10:30pm and Lily's place is the perfect spot for wacthing the fireworks. It's right in front of her living room. Angel was very scared when the fireworks started. It was a lot of noise but Tubby was sleeping deeply. We all had lots of fun today. We love Canada Day!

Afternoon with Penelope

One of our favorite English Bulldogs is moving to Yaletown today. It's so sad. We won't be able to see Penelope as often as before anymore. We are so glad Penelope's daddy dropped off Penelope today at Bark and Fitz so we got to spend some time with her before she moves to Yaletown. I gave Penelope a very nice Spa treatment which she kinda enjoyed. She was very busy greeting every customer who came in. She didn't even take a break the whole afternoon. I am going to miss Penelope so much. I hope I will see her soon again.

Buntzen Lake is located in a beautiful recreation area just north of Port Moody. Although the lake is man-made and maintained by BC Hydro, the surrounding area is full of forests, nice beach areas, and many trails for hiking including the Buntzen Lake trail which loops around the lake.

There is a dog friendly beach area at Buntzen Lake. Angel and Tubby had so much fun with other dogs there. It's a very clean area. You can also BBQ there. This place is Angel and Tubby's paradise. It's 40 minutes drive from downtown Vancouver but it's totally worth it.

One Harbour Green

One Harbour Green is definitely one of the best apartments in Coal Harbour and it's my favorite. One of my best friends, Lily, is finally moving into her new apartment, One Harbour Green, at the end of July. Angel and Tubby are extremely excited about it. Lily got Angel and Tubby's approval before she purchased this apartment. It has a beautiful view and close to where we live. I am sure Angel and Tubby are going to visit Lily a lot. I love One Harbour Green.

World's Smallest Digital SLR

It is very difficult to take a good picture of Angel and Tubby when they aren't sleeping. I never thought about getting a Digital SLR Camera before because they are so big and heavy. Recently I just found this world's smallest digital SLR. It's Olympus E-420. It is small enough to fit into a purse or a jacket pocket and light enough to shoot with comfortably all day. I purchased it from future shop for only $399. The deal ended couple days ago but now it's $20 more which it's still not too bad.

Even though it's world's smallest SLR, I would still need a case for it. It fits in my purse but it's better to have a case that protects my camera. There is a store called Crumpler where sells bags including backpacks, computer and messenger bags, and accessories in gas town. It's such a cute store. There were so many different bags to choose from but I ended up buying this bag called "The Five Million Dollar Home". It comes in lots of different colors and I chose grey with red. I have only been using this bag and camera for couple days but I love them so much.

Urban Fare + Steveston Village + Beach

It felt so good to sleep in this Sunday. I woke up at 10:45am. I wanted to have Urban Fare breakfast as soon as I woke up. I asked Dan to get ready quickly cuz the breakfast ends at 11am everyday. While Dan took Angel and Tubby to do their business, I went to Urban Fare to order some delicious breakfast.

In the afternoon, we took Angel and Tubby to Steveston Village and a beach close by. It was so fun and dog friendly there. Lots of little shops everywhere. We had the best fish and chips at one of the restaurants at Steveston village. It was Angel and Tubby's first time go to a beach. Tubby didn't like the sand and the waves. But Angel loved it. She wanted us to unleash her so she could go swimming in the ocean. It was hard for her to leave the beach. It was so much fun. I am defintly going to bring my dogs to Steveston Village again.

Swimming is Angel's favorite exercise. Due to Tubby's surgery, he isn't allowed to exercise for another week or two. So, she got to swim without Tubby this time. She enjoyed swimming so much that it took me forever to get her out of the pool. I had to give her a West Coast Canine Life Muffin to get her out. =)

Poor little Tub Tub is finally home. He stayed over night at the hospital. You can still see a couple of stitches on Tubby's nose. He is not allowed to bark, eat raw food, play with other dogs and swim or play with toys. He needs to relax for 2-3 weeks. The surgery was successful. Thanks to Dr. Ray and Dr. Schiller again.

Soft Palate Surgery

Poor little Tubby was vomiting a couple times everyday when he would get excited. It's a very common problem for flat face dogs like Tubby. His soft palate was too long and thick. Most likely he won't be vomiting as much after the surgery.

Elongated Soft Palate

"One of the the most common forms of airway obstruction in Brachycephalic breeds is due to an elongated soft palate. The soft palate is an extension of the hard palate which forms the roof of the mouth. The purpose of the soft palate is to serve as a mobile flap preventing food and water from entering the nasal passages during swallowing. A soft palate that is elongated will either hang in front of the airway or will fall into the larynx during inhalation.
Dogs affected by chronic airway obstruction (CAO) tend to breathe rather noisily when excited. Mouth breathing, snoring and snorting are characteristics of this condition. These characteristics become even more pronounced when the dog is hot or during periods of exercise. The dogs frequently gag in an attempt to clear their airway and occasionally bring up foam and saliva while eating or drinking. The harder the dog breathes, the greater the swelling and elongation of the soft palate. Most often an elongated soft palate is difficult to positively confirm other than while the dog is under general anesthesia, surgical correction is usually done at the same time."

Dr. Ray referred me to Canada West Veterinary Specialists & Critical Care Hospital. "Canada West Veterinary Specialists and Critical Care Hospital opened in 1997 under the name Animal Critical Care Group. Since that time, their practice has grown to become the largest, private veterinary specialist referral hospital in Canada."

All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Dr. Terri Schiller did the operation on Tubby and he will be staying there over night. I am so glad the operation was very successful. Thanks so much to both Dr. Ray and Dr. Schiller. I am looking forward to see my little baby get better.

Angel and Tubby's life can't get any better than this. One of our best friends, Lily, rented this luxurious yacht last weekend for Angel and Tubby. It was $2000 for a day which included food and 2 drivers. We stopped by a town called Gibson. It's a small town and only had a few restaurants there. Most of the time we stayed on the yacht. I always try to think a place where is pet friendly to go to every weekend. A friend of mine suggested Seattle Premium Outlet. It's only 2 hours away from Vancouver. All I had to bring is Angel and Tubby's Rabies certificate and they could all go across the border. It was pretty easy. Angel and Tubby were sleeping during the whole trip there and back. They were so tired. It was a big outlet and we walked into almost every single store. Lots of people stopped and started petting Angel and Tubby. I was surprised English Bulldog and French Bulldog aren't very popular breed there. I am glad Angel and Tubby had fun and I will definitely bring them there again.

New family member - Einstein

A week ago, Dan called my cell and said a french bulldog owner, Coby had to find a good home for his dog, Einstein. Unfortunately, Coby's wife is expecting a baby very soon and they can't take care of him anymore. Einstein is a 3 years old French bulldog. He grew up with a 6 years old chihuahua. He is a real sweat heart. He listens very well. He doesn't destroy anything in the house. The most important thing is he gets along with everyone.

Since we aren't able to have another dog in our small apartment at this time, Dan was trying his hardest to find a good home for Einstein. Dan's brother, Nick, has always wanted to have a bulldog. He lives in a farm and with his parents. Einstein would have 3 yorkies to live with and runing around in the farm. This is the perfect home for Einstein. Nick had no problem adopting Einstein.

We have been to visit Einstein few times already and he loves his new home a lot. Even his skin problem is getting better. I am sure Nick will be a good dad and give Einstein lots of love and care which all dogs deserve. Welcome to your new home, Einstein. We all love you!

Good News! Tubby's mommy, Tanzie, gave birth to 3 beautiful babies - 2 boys and a girl. They are all black masked with fawn. Aren't they just so cute and sweet? I wish I could get another franchie. Laser Eye Surgery

Finally I had a laser eye surgery last Friday just so I don't need to wear glasses or contacts anymore. It costs a lot of money but it's definitely worth it. My prescription was -5.0 both eyes and my vision should be 20/20 after couple more weeks. I am so excited and happy about this.

I had the surgery at Coal Harbour Eye Centre which is located on the 27th floor, penthouse suite at 1177 West Hastings Street. It's right by Coal Harbour Urban Fare. It's so close to my store and home so I can just walk to there. You don't want to drive after you had a eye surgery. Me and my friend, Jeffery did lots of research on finding the best price and the most experience doctor in Vancouver. Dr. Steven Kirzner is the best one. 50% of his customers are from US and Europe so he must be pretty well-known.

It was so weird to wear this big ugly looking sunglasses everywhere I go, but I don't need it anymore after a week. I can't wait till my vision is 20/20. Yeah!

West Highland White Terriers - Connie

West Highland White Terriers, commonly known as Westies, are a breed of dog known for their distinctive white coat. This breed is commonly recognised on the packaging of Cesar brand dog food.

This dog's name is Connie. She is one of the cutest Westie I've ever seen. She loves posing to the camera. The first picture shows what she does when she asks for a treat. Jennifer, our groomer, did such a great job on Connie. While Connie was waiting for her mommy to pick her up after grooming, Connie got lots of compliments from all of our customers walked by the grooming room. She is just so CUTE! Allergic Reaction

Poor big Angel bum had a allergic reaction this morning. Dr. Ray says it could be something she ate, touched or smelled. Her face is all swollen. She could barely open her eyes. Usually it's not a big deal. However, it could get pretty serious due to bulldog's short nose. If the swollen doesn't go away by tomorrow morning, Angel will have a hard time to breath. Oh My God! What else will go wrong with my dogs?

Sweet! Finally I got to meet a 9 weeks old French Bulldog, Elmo. He is such a cute little puppy. The owners have brought Elmo to the store couple times before. However, Me and Tubby weren't here. I heard from Jen (our groomer) and Kevin how cute Elmo is. Elmo is going to have his second shot at the end of this month and then Tubby will be able to play with him. :) Tubby's head is the size of Elmo's entire body. Hopefully I will be able to get another Frenchie and Bulldog in the future.

Tubby hurt his back

Poor little Tubby hurt his back on Saturday night. We didn't know he was hurt till the next morning. I tried to pick him up and come to work. He screamed so loud when I touched his back. And then he started shacking like crazy with his ears back. I thought he was just having a bad dream. But, he was still shacking and could barely walk when I brought him to work. I tried to call Dr. Ray and they were closed. I tried to call Yaletown Animal Hospital and they were closed too. Luckily, Andrea (a great customer) came to the store when I felt so helpless. She recommended Blueridge-Cove Animal Hospital in North Vancouver. Andrea got me an appointment right away. It was so nice of her offering to go to the vet with me. Tubby was still feeling achy on the way to the hospital. Dr. Kennedy found out that Tubby must pulled his muscle while he was jumping around and playing too much. Poor Tubby has to be on Metacam for a week. If he doens't get better, he will need a X-Ray and do a test to see if there is anything else wrong with him. Thanks so much to Andrea for everything. She is such a great customer and friend. I have always been only recomanded customers to Dr. Ray or Dr. Spooner. But, now I found another great Vet. I would totoally recomand Dr. Kennedy to everyone. She is great!

Coyote Alert

Recently I heard a sad news about a coyote that got a small unleashed dog in the Stanley park. It happened about a month ago while the owner was walking the dog. I took my dogs to Stanley Park sometimes during the summer time and I never worried about the coyotes till now. Because of this sad story, I hope all the dog owners will be more aware of unleashing your dogs in Stanley Park. Here is an article I found from City of Vancouver website.

Even though your pet lives in the city, Vancouver is home to a variety of wildlife species and there are dangerous predators out there.

An estimated 2,000 to 3,000 coyote live among us in the Lower Mainland. Although the coyotes eat mainly small mammals such as mice and rats, they will eat domestic pets. All small pets should be kept indoors at night and on a leash when out with their owners. Coyotes are generally no threat to people but should be treated with respect and never approached or fed. People with small children should be especially careful with their kids around animals.

I get so many compliments when people see me with the bag. Once we finish using all the plastic bags in the store, we will only be carrying paper bags and re-usable bags.
